#120. getting out of debt, managing depression & a steady routine

Age: 24

Relationship Status: In relationship, and very in love

Occupation: Behavior Technician

Income: ~32,000

Astrological Sign: Taurus

What is your first thought every morning?

Get some coffee brewing so I can sit out on the porch and get some peaceful reflection time before my day. It’s my alone time, since my boyfriend is a night owl.

What is something you do solely for you?

My guilty pleasure shows. Absolutely no one else in the house likes them, but they make me happy (haha). So maybe not a “guilty” pleasure. But the Vampire Diaries? Gilmore Girls? You better believe I'll be watching those after a long day!

What is something you dread?

Talking to my mom about money. I was severely depressed last year and put myself in a bit of a financial shit storm. She’s been helping me create a plan to come out of the hole that I dug, but she’s not happy that I put myself there.

What is something you are looking forward to?

The future. Growing. The eventual culmination of everything my partner and I have been working for.

When do you feel most accomplished?

When I manage symptoms of depression and still make it through my day. That looks different depending on the day, sometimes we can give 100%, sometimes 30%, sometimes barely anything. But I feel accomplished when I give all of what I can.

What is something you regret investing in financially?

Paying two rents for several months just to get out of a house with my previous abuser. I needed to leave, but I wish I would have considered my options more.

What is something you regret investing in emotionally?

The well-being of people who would later prove to never reciprocate that effort.

What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?

(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)

1. My health

2. A healthy relationship

3. A Savings account

When do you feel most creative?

While I'm listening to my favorite music.

How often do you compare yourself to others? When?

Way too often. It used to be every day, almost constantly. Now it’s still too much, but I’m able to shut it down faster. That’s growth, baby.

What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?

Learning from my family’s’ mistakes.

What is one thing you believe about your future self?

She’ll continue to learn from her own mistakes.

What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?

Allowing anger to go from 0-60 when being confronted. That’s one sure way to turn a disagreement into a fight immediately.

Have you ever felt pure joy? When?

This is something I struggle with/overthink. Maybe though, one of the nights I was simply with my buddies, having a good time together.

What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?

My struggle with college to my parents.

When do you feel most in your feminine energy?

Getting all dressed up and spending time with women who inspire me!

What is one interaction that changed your life?

A girl that I'm still friends with to this day came up to me one day, introduced herself and said, “I think we’re going to be great friends.” I tend to be very shy. An introvert’s best friend is sometimes an extrovert. Anyway, she opened me up to so many other important people in my life and I learned a lot of confidence through that whole era.

What is something you want to give up?

Nicotine. Absolutely terrifies me to think about quitting, but I want to.

What is something you want to take up?

A very steady routine. Sounds boring, but I kind of need boring right now.

What do you believe is a universal truth?

That love is the most important thing you can let yourself experience, even when it’s painful.

BONUS: Tell me something good.

My dog is very good at sensing when people are sick. I have a head cold, and I've gotten cuddles all morning.
