What is your first thought every morning?

I don’t really have the capacity to think in the morning!

What is something you do solely for you?

I paint! I love when other people can connect to my paintings, but I will always make art for myself. If other people like it, then that’s an extra bonus!

What is something you dread?

I HATE grocery shopping so much. It stresses me out, and the lights are always too bright. I hate navigating the aisles with so many people in them.

What is something you are looking forward to?

Colder weather and feeling cozy! Listening to the rain, and not feeling guilty for staying inside.

When do you feel most accomplished?

When I finish a painting that I really like, or finish reading a book, or knitting something that I’ve been working on for a long time.

What is something you regret investing in financially?

I thankfully don’t have any regrets! I am really cautious about my spending and like to plan/research things a lot before making a big purchase.

What is something you regret investing in emotionally?

Jobs that I was miserable at. I’ve worked in a lot of restaurants that have really beaten me down and taken up way too much emotional space in my life. It was never worth stressing about those jobs.

What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?

(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)

1. Therapy!!!

2. Taking good care of your car.

3. Having a pet! My cats bring me so much joy and I can’t imagine a world without them. They are so comforting to be around and make me laugh every day.

When do you feel most creative?

When I’m painting something and totally zoned out, I don’t have to think too hard about what I’m making.

How often do you compare yourself to others? When?

Way too often. Probably every day. Mostly when I feel insecure about my looks or feel like I’m behind career-wise.

What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?

I’m thankful that I was truthful and admitted to my mistakes at a time when doing so was really hard and scary.

What is one thing you believe about your future self?

I believe I’ll never stop making art.

What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?

Other people’s opinions of me do not measure my worth! Especially the opinions of men.

Have you ever felt pure joy? When?

About two years post-covid, I took a beach vacation with my family and genuinely felt giddy the entire time. Covid really messed me up and caused me a ton of anxiety. I was working in restaurants, isolating from friends, drinking way too much, and trying to learn what life was like after graduating college during a pandemic. On this trip, I was truly relaxed for the first time in my adult life. I didn’t feel any anxiety or stress. I watched dolphins jump out of the ocean at 5am. I drank margaritas and watched the sunset. I played cards and laughed with my sister. It was the best week of my life.

What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?

I regret hooking up with 90% of the men that I have hooked up with and should’ve gone to therapy way sooner than I did.

When do you feel most in your feminine energy?

I think when I’m at the gym. I started lifting weights recently and doing something that I never thought I’d be able to do (and stick with!) has shown me confidence, and that makes me feel so powerful. I never saw myself as someone who could be confident and strong, but proving myself wrong makes me feel capable of even having strong, feminine energy.

What is one interaction that changed your life?

I hope this isn’t too dark - but getting sexually assaulted changed everything about my life.

What is something you want to give up?

Anxiety, overthinking, putting myself down for no reason. As Jemima Kirke said, “I think you guys might be thinking of yourselves too much.”

What is something you want to take up?

I want to read more! So far, I’ve read one book a month this year, but I’d really like to let go of my phone addiction and start reading more often.

What do you believe is a universal truth?

Find your community, find your creative outlet, and you’ll never go through anything alone. Also, having accountability for your actions is a huge part of having healthy relationships.

BONUS: Tell me something good.

I love the city that I live in and have never felt so free to be myself.
