What is the most important part of your daily routine?
The quiet time I have in the morning (when I have time), after I’ve taken my dog out...I make my coffee and either scroll through my phone, throw something on the TV, or read a little. I love it; my dog goes back to sleep with my boyfriend, and I find it very peaceful while I do my thing in the living room.
What is your current happiness most dependent on?
My relationships. My relationship with my boyfriend and my friendships. I am ALWAYS working on my relationship with my parents. But all in all, it's all great!
What do you wish you were less reliant on?
MONEY!! I cannot stand that I have to be so reliant on it. I have never been driven by it and, in some ways, wish I was. It would make life easier in many ways. Over the years, I have had to borrow money from family members; I have always paid them back and am still currently paying off a few loans, but I cannot wait until I have paid everyone back in full and hope never to ask again.
When do you question yourself?
Lately, when it has come to how my parents speak about each other, they have been divorced for 29 years. Yet my mom and other mom(step-mom) still manage to say snide remarks. I have always brushed it off, laughed, and changed the subject. However, I am finding it harder to hold my tongue. As much as I don't think it's okay, my relationship with my parents and not getting into an argument are more important to me. I am working on finding a therapist, but I think I am questioning my morals; how can I be okay with it, and why am I scared of my parents?
What is something that has positively impacted how you perceive your self-worth?
I am an exceptional employee, I always have been and I like my managers to acknowledge it. I have won Employee of the Year before, and in my new job, I just won Employee of the Month. It makes me feel great about myself; I may never be money-driven, but I love my job and am so happy that it is reflected.
What is something you have forgiven yourself for?
I forgive myself almost every day. I have this list in my head of what I should be doing every day. I play the drums, read, write in my journal, etc. And most of the time, I don't do those things. I tell myself it's okay, I’m just human, and tomorrow is another day. Then, I move on.
What is something you have forgiven someone else for?
A good friend of mine (my closest friend at the time) and I got into a nasty argument. She said really horrible things to me, and we didn't speak for a little over a year. We eventually started to talk again and play catch up - a lot had changed for us both that year. She eventually apologized to me; It was easy for me to accept. And even though we may not be as close as we were, I am still grateful she's in my life.
How do you ground/center yourself?
I have not felt the need to do this lately, but going on a walk or a hike and just being out in nature has always helped.
What is one thing that helped you through your most difficult time?
My dog. He is nine now, but he has been with me through basically all of my 20s, multiple moves, a move across the country…then back, multiple boys, and lots of heartache. I love him so much!
Have you ever felt like the best version of yourself? When?
Hmm when I have accomplished something I have been working on. And proving others wrong. I am always so proud of myself after both of those things and feel unstoppable.
What is something you fundamentally disagree with?
Staying in a job just because the money is good. I will never understand.
What is something you know for sure?
Everyone loves a compliment! You could have made someone's day so much better with one small, nice gesture.
What are three of your non-negotiables in romantic relationships?
1. Trust. I have never felt so secure the way I do now with my boyfriend.
2. Getting along with my family and friends.
3. Loving my dog. (our dog now) :)
When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?
Sitting on the couch, wearing a big tee and having my legs sprawled out on top of my boyfriend. Typically snacking.
Have you ever been in awe of something/someone? When?
Can I say myself? You know, growing up, this is all I really wanted… a happy relationship, a job I liked, and enough to afford dinner on the table every night. Younger me would definitely be in awe, and I love that for myself.
What is the best (physical/material) gift you have ever received?
I have been fortunate to receive many wonderful gifts, but the first thing that comes to mind, and maybe because it’s more recent, is a Stubhub gift card. My best friend got it for me and put enough money on it for me to afford to go to a festival with her that I was struggling to buy tickets to.
What is one thing you wish you had said ‘yes’ to in the past?
I really missed out on taking advantage of my birthright trip to Israel. I was setting it up, but then COVID happened, and I dropped the ball afterward. That's one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences I had the privilege of being able to do and didn’t.
What is one thing you will always say ‘no’ to in the future?
Lots of money if it means selling my soul and being unhappy. My happiness is worth so much more.
What do you believe is your most attractive quality?
I think I’m really funny! Like hilarious, I crack myself up.
What/who do you want to be when you grow up?
A mom, a wife. Still happy in whatever job I’m doing.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
My best friend is in a new relationship with a wonderful guy! I am so happy for her!
