#311. the morning rush, Timehop & spilling the tea

Age: 30

Relationship Status: Married

Occupation: Attorney

Income: $80k

Astrological Sign: Gemini, through and through!

How are you, really?

The best I’ve ever been. I’m living my dream life that I’ve worked and prayed so hard for!

What is the greatest change you’ve made this year?

Becoming a family of 4 by welcoming our second son. He fits right in and is the SWEETEST little guy. We are absolutely smitten!

What is something you hope never changes?

The way my boys light up when I tell them that I love them.

When do you feel most capable?

When my work tasks are all checked off and my house is clean!

How do you nurture yourself?

My daily iced coffee. Even when I was a broke college student, I always made room in my budget. It’s the best money I spend!

How do you nurture others?

You know those clips of mama monkeys picking at their babies? I feel like that is me, 24/7. I am always running around freshening up my boys’ hair, clipping their nails, etc. so that they feel and look presentable. I feel strongly about teaching them to put their best foot forward!

Is there anything you wish you had said but didn’t?

Honestly, no.

What is something that turns you on?

A strong margarita.

What is something that turns you off?

Being propositioned after a long day. Ick.

When was the last time you walked away from something that no longer served you?

My previous, incredibly toxic job.

How often do you feel you achieve balance?

Daily. My new WFH job is extremely flexible, so I generally feel I’m able to stay on top of the household chores, errands, and being a mom.

What is one risk you took that resulted in reward?

Quitting teaching. I thought teaching was my dream career, but after 1 year, I knew it wasn’t for me. I quit, went to law school, and never looked back!

When do you feel most overwhelmed?

During the “morning rush,”. Feeding the dogs, cooking breakfast, knowing a whole day of tasks lie ahead. Lately, I’ve been really trying to slow down and savor the sweet moments, like my toddler asking me to read to him this morning. I know I’ll miss the chaos terribly when they’re all grown up!

How do you move forward?

Making a good old fashioned to-do list. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been unstoppable if I have a written down plan of what needs to be done so that I can prioritize.

What is something that will always make you laugh?

Chats with my bestie. Whether it’s reminiscing on college memories or spilling the tea on our day, we always crack each other up. It’s so special to have a best friend that’s been through so many versions of you!

What is something that will always make you cry?

Timehop memories. It brings a tear to my eye daily, seeing what was happening and how small my babies were throughout the years.

Have you ever been betrayed?

Oof, yes. It has truly affected how close I allow myself to be to others to this day.

What is your greatest temptation?

The grocery store bakery. I hardly ever leave without a sweet treat for the week!

What is one thing you feel is missing from your current life?

Overall, I feel so fulfilled. Sure, there are a few material things on my wish list, and I’ll always wonder what it would be like to raise a daughter, but I honestly don’t feel like there is anything missing.

What is one thing you can’t get enough of?

Sugar!

BONUS: Tell me something good.

My husband and I both received back-to-back raises. With the economy the way that it is, it’s a huge blessing to be able to stay ahead of our finances. We definitely don’t take for granted!
